The information on the pages linked below can help individuals and community groups to volunteer safely and build networks to support communities before, during and after an emergency.
Advice during an emergency
If the emergency is in your local area and you want to get involved and help, look out for calls for support from local community groups and your local councils. In some emergencies, calls for support may come from national government or national voluntary organisations.
Check local radio stations and local TV broadcasts and trusted news sources (such as your local emergency services website or their social media) for specific advice from local emergency partners.
Please don’t turn up at the emergency and try to help. Emergencies are unpredictable and this could be dangerous for you and the emergency services on the scene. If the emergency is in another part of the country, please don’t travel to help – local services will be under significant pressure.
